Up for auction is what i wsa told is a wwi german trench warfare mace. I have had this piece since the early 1960's, when i purchased it at a military show. I was informed that this is one of the most brutal warfare weapons produced.
They were to be the answer to teh u. S. M1911 knuckle knife, but they were deemed too un-wielding to put into complete mass production. A handful of units were issued these weapons, and very few remain in tact. It has a 2 1/2 pound iron spiked ball at the end of a chain which is attached to what appears to be a mahogany handle, which is approximately 17 inches long. When stretched out, from the top of the spiked ball to the end of the handle, it is approximately 29 inches long. It remimnds me of something form the medieval times. All appears to be original. There is some rust is on the chain.
